Pueblo, CO – Southern Colorado is waking up to another chilly morning Thursday as the National Weather Service warns of frost concerns in the San Luis Valley. Temperatures are expected to dip into the 30s, with cold air pooling in low-lying areas.

According to the US National Weather Service Pueblo office, a Frost Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. Thursday for the San Luis Valley, where overnight lows could damage sensitive plants and crops. The agency noted that the coldest conditions are expected in valleys and mountainous regions.

Most of southern Colorado will experience lows ranging from the upper 30s to low 40s, with cities such as Pueblo, Walsenburg, and Trinidad all expected to dip into the chilly range. Clear skies and calm winds overnight will allow cold air to settle, heightening the frost risk in valley locations.

The weather service advises residents in the San Luis Valley to take precautions by covering outdoor vegetation and protecting any sensitive crops or plants that may be impacted. While dry weather is expected to persist, agricultural producers and gardeners should remain alert to these recurring early-fall frost events.

Warmer daytime conditions are forecast to return later Thursday, but overnight temperatures in valley areas may continue to bring frost risks into the weekend.
