Pueblo, CO – Southern Colorado could be in for a rare northern lights display tonight, as a strong G4 geomagnetic storm continues while skies stay mostly clear and warm across the region.
According to the US National Weather Service Pueblo and the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, clear skies and light winds tonight may offer excellent viewing conditions for the aurora borealis, potentially visible as far south as Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Alamosa.
The best chance to spot the aurora will be between 9 p.m. and midnight, particularly in rural or mountain areas away from city lights. A faint red or green glow may appear on the northern horizon if geomagnetic activity remains strong.
Aside from tonight’s celestial show, warm and dry conditions will dominate through Saturday, with highs running 10–15 degrees above normal. Pueblo could reach near-record highs around 81°F, while Colorado Springs tops out near 75°F.
A cooler change arrives Sunday as temperatures dip back to seasonal levels, bringing increased chances for rain and mountain snow into early next week.
