Pueblo, Colorado — A Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect along the Interstate 25 corridor through 9:00 AM this morning, as dense fog and light snow flurries create hazardous travel conditions, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo.

Visibility has dropped to less than one mile in several locations, particularly across El Paso, Pueblo, and eastern Las Animas counties. In some areas, fog is thick enough to significantly limit reaction time for drivers, increasing the risk of accidents during the morning commute.

In addition to reduced visibility, freezing fog may deposit a thin glaze of ice on roadways, especially on bridges, overpasses, sidewalks, and driveways. Even untreated roads that appear wet may be slick, making stopping distances longer and travel unpredictable.

Light snow flurries are also possible at times, though accumulations are expected to remain minimal. The primary hazard remains dense fog combined with icy surfaces, particularly along and near I-25, where traffic volumes are highest.

Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles. Sudden visibility drops may occur with little warning, especially near low-lying areas and open stretches of highway.

Pedestrians should also use caution, as sidewalks and entryways may be slick early this morning. Residents are advised to allow extra time when heading out and to avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.

The advisory is expected to expire by mid-morning as temperatures rise and fog gradually lifts. However, officials caution that patchy slick spots may linger even after visibility improves.

Travelers are encouraged to monitor local conditions and check for updates before heading out. Even short trips can become dangerous under freezing fog conditions.
