Pueblo, Colorado – Dense and locally freezing fog is impacting portions of southeastern Colorado this morning, creating reduced visibility and slick travel conditions before clearing later today.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, fog and low clouds are expected to clear from west to east through the morning hours, giving way to mostly clear skies by midday. Freezing fog has been observed across parts of the plains, raising concerns for slick road surfaces and poor visibility during the early morning period.
Freezing Fog Advisories remain in effect through 9 a.m. for portions of the region. Drivers traveling along Interstate 25, U.S. Highway 50, and nearby state highways are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and be prepared for rapidly changing visibility.
Once fog dissipates, temperatures are expected to climb to near normal or slightly above normal levels this afternoon. High temperatures across the region are forecast to reach the upper 40s to lower 60s, depending on location.
Looking ahead, forecasters say mild and dry conditions are expected to persist through most of the weekend, providing favorable weather for travel and outdoor activities. However, changes may arrive early next week.
The National Weather Service notes that cooler temperatures and the potential for snow could return by Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how the next system develops. Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates as early-week conditions become clearer.
This update may be especially relevant for early-morning commuters, school transportation, and highway travelers, particularly during the peak fog period this morning.
Officials emphasize that while conditions will improve quickly today, fog-related hazards can be dangerous, especially before sunrise.
