Pueblo, CO – A warm and dry start to the week is on tap for southern Colorado, but a shift in the weather pattern could bring storms and cooler temperatures by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, Sunday will be mostly sunny with above-normal temperatures and continued dry conditions extending into Monday. Highs are expected to range from the mid-70s in Alamosa to the upper 80s in Pueblo and La Junta.

The forecast changes on Tuesday, when showers and thunderstorms are expected to return across the region. The unsettled weather will precede a pattern shift that ushers in cooler air by Wednesday. Cities including Colorado Springs, Canon City, and Trinidad could see a noticeable dip in afternoon highs compared to early in the week.

The NWS forecast graphic shows Pueblo holding near 88 degrees Sunday before dropping closer to 80 degrees by midweek. Colorado Springs is forecast to reach the upper 70s Sunday before cooling to the low 70s by Wednesday.

Residents are advised to stay weather-aware Tuesday, as thunderstorms could bring localized rainfall and possible impacts to evening commutes. Cooler, more seasonal conditions are expected to linger into the second half of the week.
