Pueblo, CO – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected across southern Colorado today, bringing gusty winds and heavy rainfall to several areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, storms may produce wind gusts up to 45 mph and localized downpours through Monday evening. Temperatures will run a few degrees cooler than Sunday but still slightly above average for late September. Highs are forecast to reach the 70s in mountain valleys and the mid-80s on the plains.

Cities including Pueblo, La Junta, Lamar, and Springfield may see thunderstorms during the afternoon, while mountain communities such as Salida, Alamosa, and Buena Vista are also under the threat of showers.

A shift in the weather pattern is expected beginning Tuesday, when drier air and warmer conditions will spread across the region. Forecasters expect highs to rise steadily through Friday, with many locations reaching the upper 70s to mid-80s.

The National Weather Service advises residents to be prepared for rapidly changing conditions today and to use caution when traveling during storms, especially with reduced visibility and strong winds possible.

A potential pattern change could bring new weather systems into Colorado this weekend, though details remain uncertain.
