Pueblo, CO – A significant winter storm is set to sweep through Pueblo and surrounding areas beginning Sunday night, bringing heavy snowfall and potentially dangerous road conditions on Monday. The National Weather Service warns drivers, especially those using the I-25 corridor, to expect challenging travel with slick, snow-covered roads for Monday’s morning commute. Motorists are advised to prepare for slower travel times and exercise extreme caution when heading out early next week.

According to the National Weather Service, snow will first reach higher elevations on Sunday evening before spreading across the plains, including Pueblo, by early Monday. The heaviest snowfall is expected overnight and into Monday morning, with gusty winds creating visibility challenges. Snow accumulation could make I-25, particularly through the Palmer Divide and other mountainous sections, hazardous for travel.

Looking ahead, Sunday’s forecast in Pueblo predicts partly sunny skies with a high of 67°F, though rain and snow showers will develop by evening. Monday’s high is expected to only reach 48°F as snow falls through the morning, tapering off by the afternoon. Temperatures will then dip to 24°F on Monday night under mostly clear skies.

On Tuesday, sunny conditions will return, with a high near 57°F, though a mix of rain and snow is expected to reappear by Tuesday night as temperatures drop. By mid-week, Pueblo residents could face another wave of winter weather, with snow likely on Wednesday as high temperatures reach 47°F.

Residents are urged to monitor weather updates and check road conditions at cotrip.org before traveling. Local authorities advise stocking vehicles with winter emergency kits, including blankets, water, and other essentials.

Stay tuned for further weather updates as this storm unfolds, and plan for potential disruptions to your routine.
