Providence, RI – Rhode Islanders are set for a stretch of hot, sunny days as temperatures climb toward 90°F in Providence and much of the state through early next week. The clear skies make for ideal beach and outdoor time, but the coming heat wave brings rising risks for those sensitive to high temperatures, especially Monday and Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service, today will be sunny with highs near 81°F and calm winds shifting south. Temperatures will steadily increase over the weekend, hitting 86°F by Sunday and surging to nearly 90°F on both Monday and Tuesday. Evenings will stay mostly clear and warm, with lows in the mid- to upper 60s.

Daytime outdoor activities should be planned with heat precautions in mind, particularly for young children and the elderly. Hydrate frequently, wear sunscreen, and avoid strenuous activity during the afternoon peak. South and southwest winds will keep humidity moderate, but local roadways and urban areas may heat up quickly. School and work commutes look smooth, with no rain or major hazards through at least Tuesday.

The current sunny, dry pattern is expected to last until midweek, when a slight cool-down may arrive. Stay tuned for updates and prepare for more advisories if the heat lingers or intensifies.
