Winnipeg, MB – A 60-year-old woman was arrested following a violent robbery and stabbing incident at an apartment on Dufferin Avenue on November 9. The Winnipeg Police Service reported that officers responded around 7 p.m. to a call regarding an assault involving a 61-year-old female victim in her suite.
According to Winnipeg Police, the victim suffered multiple lacerations and upper-body injuries from a heavy metal object and a small edged weapon. Officers provided medical care before transporting her to the hospital in stable condition.
Police say the attack stemmed from a dispute over property. The suspect allegedly confronted the victim in her apartment and assaulted her, then fled with the victim’s cell phone. Officers located the suspect around 9:30 p.m. in a hotel on the 500 block of Main Street, where she was taken into custody without incident.
The suspect and victim were known to each other, police confirmed. The Major Crimes Unit is now investigating the case. The suspect faces charges of robbery and two counts of weapon possession. She remains in custody as the investigation continues.
