Portsmouth, New Hampshire – A Portsmouth man was arrested after a police pursuit and multi-agency search Thursday afternoon.
According to New Hampshire State Police, a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle traveling north on the Route 1 Bypass around 3 p.m. on April 9. The driver allegedly failed to stop and continued northbound before turning onto Hodgdon Way and entering a residential neighborhood near Shearwater Drive.
Authorities said the vehicle, identified as a maroon 2005 Buick LeSabre, was later found abandoned on Blue Heron Drive. The driver fled on foot. Police determined the license plates on the vehicle were registered to a different car.
State Police coordinated with Portsmouth Police to establish a perimeter and conduct a K9 track. Drones were also deployed, and troopers interviewed multiple witnesses. Investigators later identified a possible suspect after learning he had been given a ride from the area to Dover.
According to officials, Dover Police located the suspect shortly after receiving that information. He allegedly attempted to flee again on foot but was taken into custody without injury.
The suspect was identified as Dashawn L. White, 24, of Portsmouth. He faces multiple charges, including felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and operating as a habitual offender, along with several misdemeanor and motor vehicle violations.
White was evaluated at a local hospital before being transported to the Strafford County Jail. He is scheduled for arraignment Friday at 10 a.m.
