Portland, Oregon – Morning rain surprised residents across northwest Oregon on Monday, delivering up to 0.59 inches in Portland before drier air moved in by midday. Commuters saw damp streets from Beaverton to Troutdale as showers pushed through the metro area, bringing a brief but notable break in an otherwise dry July.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, the heaviest totals were recorded at the Portland NWS office (0.59″), with Portland International Airport picking up 0.33″. Troutdale Airport measured 0.15″, while McMinnville and Three Corner Rock each received 0.04”. Aurora Airport reported a lighter 0.02”. Skies began clearing late Monday morning, and forecasters say no additional rain is expected for the rest of the week.

Travelers should see improved road conditions this afternoon as the pavement dries out, though puddles and slick spots may linger in some low-lying areas. Residents are advised to keep an eye on local waterways but no flooding is expected.

The rainfall offered brief relief to parched lawns and gardens, but for most of Oregon, this marks the last significant precipitation until at least next weekend. Monday’s event was the largest single-day total at Portland NWS so far this July.

More updates will be issued if further rainfall develops, but for now, Oregonians can expect classic dry summer weather through Friday.
