Portland, OR – A powerful atmospheric river is set to drench northwest Oregon and southwest Washington through Sunday, bringing several inches of rain and potential flooding, according to the National Weather Service in Portland.

The storm system is expected to deliver between 3 and 6 inches of rainfall across much of the Willamette Valley and coastal ranges by early Monday. Areas such as Salem, Lyons, and Santiam Pass may see the heaviest totals, with forecasters warning that water accumulation could lead to minor flooding and reduced visibility for drivers.

According to NWS Portland, the most intense rainfall will continue through Saturday night, with lingering showers into Sunday. Residents are urged to clear gutters and storm drains of leaves and debris to prevent localized flooding and to secure any outdoor items that could be blown around by gusty winds.

Motorists are advised to use headlights, slow down, and allow extra travel time as ponding and slick roads are likely.
