Portland, Oregon – Temperatures across northwest Oregon and southwest Washington are set to soar, with a Heat Advisory in effect from noon Tuesday through 10 p.m. Wednesday. Residents in the Portland Metro area, Willamette Valley, Columbia River Gorge, and nearby cities like Salem, Vancouver, and Eugene could see highs between 90 and 98 degrees—and some locations have a 60% chance of hitting 100°F on Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, the hottest conditions are expected Wednesday afternoon, impacting cities such as Rockcreek, Longview, Troutdale, Albany, and Corvallis. The advisory covers most of the I-5 corridor, including Multnomah, Clackamas, Marion, Lane, and Cowlitz counties. Overnight lows may offer little relief, especially in urban centers.

Hot weather may cause heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Health officials urge everyone to stay hydrated, remain indoors during peak heat (3–7 p.m.), and check on vulnerable neighbors. Without air conditioning, use fans, keep windows closed during the day, and ventilate at night if air quality allows. If you must work or exercise outside, wear light clothing, take frequent breaks, and never leave children or pets in parked cars.

Cooling centers are expected to open in Portland and Salem. Outdoor workers should follow OSHA guidelines and take extra precautions.
More advisories may follow if the heatwave intensifies. The Heat Advisory remains in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday.
