Rain splashes off windshields and races down storm drains across Portland this morning as another strong Pacific system barrels inland. The steady downpour and whipping wind signal a busy weather stretch for northwest Oregon, with multiple alerts in effect through Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, a Flood Watch remains active through Thursday night while both a Flood Advisory and Wind Advisory are in effect through early Tuesday. The system will continue delivering 2 to 5 inches of rainfall across the Portland metro, Willamette Valley, and Columbia River corridor. Coastal and foothill areas could see even higher totals.
Forecasters warn that saturated soils may lead to urban and river flooding, with ponding on major roadways and debris possibly clogging storm drains. In higher terrain, runoff could trigger minor landslides. Meanwhile, winds gusting up to 45 mph may cause tree limbs to fall and create localized power outages—especially in open and elevated areas.
Rain remains likely through midweek before tapering Thursday night. By Friday, skies will turn mostly cloudy and calmer, offering a brief pause before additional moisture arrives late this weekend.
