Portage, MI – Drivers in Portage should prepare for delays starting Monday as a lane closure is scheduled on the north side of McClish Court near the intersection of Portage Road.

According to the Portage Department of Public Safety, the closure will run from August 11 through November 15, weather and materials permitting. The project will require a lane closure along McClish Court from Portage Road to Forest Drive as crews work on storm drainage, parking lot improvements, and the installation of a traffic signal at Forest Drive. Additional work will include sidewalk ramp upgrades to meet Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, as well as resurfacing and restoration of disturbed areas.

Motorists are urged to seek alternate routes to avoid delays in the construction zone. The work zone and closure area are clearly marked on a map provided by the city, with the closure indicated in red and the work zone in green.

City officials said the improvements aim to enhance traffic flow and pedestrian safety in the area, particularly at the busy intersection near Forest Drive. For questions, residents can contact the Portage Department of Transportation & Utilities at (269) 329-4422. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
