Portage, IN: Fireworks Legal for 11 Days with Time Restrictions

Portage, IN – Beginning tonight, residents of Portage can legally use consumer-grade fireworks within city limits for the next eleven days, but must follow specific guidelines. Fireworks use is restricted to private property with the owner’s consent and under adult supervision for those under 18.

According to the Portage Police Department, approved times include 5:00 p.m. to two hours post-sunset on June 29-30, July 1-3, and July 5-9, and from 10:00 a.m. to midnight on July 4. Fireworks are strictly prohibited on public properties, including parks and streets.

Authorities emphasize the importance of adhering to these regulations to ensure public safety and reduce disturbance. Violators risk having their fireworks confiscated by law enforcement.
