Port St. John, FL – A woman was shot and killed in Port St. John on Sunday afternoon, prompting a multi-scene homicide investigation and the arrest of a suspect, according to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say they responded to multiple 911 calls around 12:15 p.m. reporting gunfire in the 7000 block of Carlow Avenue.

Upon arrival, deputies located a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving measures, she died at the scene. During the preliminary investigation, patrol deputies determined that the victim’s boyfriend, 23-year-old Tyjah Bellinger, was allegedly responsible for the shooting.

Deputies then responded to several locations where Bellinger was believed to have fled. He was ultimately found at a residence on Dallas Avenue in Port St. John, where he was taken into custody without incident.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, homicide agents and Crime Scene Unit personnel processed multiple scenes connected to the shooting. Bellinger was charged with 1st Degree Premeditated Murder after an arrest warrant was issued and is being held in the Brevard County Jail on a no-bond status.

Authorities say the investigation remains active as detectives continue interviews and gather additional evidence. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey publicly praised the responding deputies for quickly locating the suspect and preventing additional harm. He also expressed condolences to the victim’s family, noting the “difficult time” they now face.
