Pontiac, MI – Detectives in Oakland County are investigating a tragic murder-suicide that claimed the lives of a Pontiac couple Thursday night, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Latrece Shanna Harper, 33, was found dead around 7:30 p.m. inside her home on the 300 block of S. Marshall Street. Her stepdaughter discovered her on the couch with a single gunshot wound to the head.

About 15 minutes later, Bloomfield Township police located Harper’s boyfriend, 41-year-old Clifford Torrell Noel Jr., on Square Lake Road near Telegraph. According to authorities, Noel had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound from an AR-15-style rifle and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Investigators believe the homicide was the result of a domestic argument. The couple had reportedly been together for about 10 years and shared five children, ages 4 to 15. None of the children were home at the time of the shooting and were later placed in the care of Child Protective Services.

“It breaks my heart when relationships turn violent,” said Sheriff Michael Bouchard. “If you’re in an abusive relationship, get help—there are people ready to guide you to safety.”

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
