Polk, WI – A garage fire at a Washington County RV center caused significant damage Thursday morning but resulted in no injuries.
According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a report at 11:06 a.m. of smoke and flames at Scenic Traveler RV Center, located at 3155 Scenic Road in the Town of Polk. The fire involved a detached garage separate from the main building.
The Slinger Fire Department initially responded before the call was upgraded to a Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) response. Additional crews from Jackson, Hartford, St. Lawrence and Richfield assisted at the scene, along with Lifestar Rescue. A sheriff’s deputy confirmed the garage was fully engulfed when they arrived at 11:10 a.m. Firefighters had the blaze under control by 11:45 a.m.
Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have been sparked by a lawn mower recently used by a landscaper and stored in the garage just before flames broke out, investigators said.
The garage and its contents were declared a total loss, with damages estimated at $15,000. The owner reported the loss, and no further details have been released.
