Addison, WI – Two Milwaukee men were taken into custody Sunday afternoon after leading police on a high-speed pursuit that reached more than 120 mph on Interstate 41, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident began around 1:53 p.m. when Washington County deputies were called to assist Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputies, who were pursuing a grey Chrysler 300 sedan wanted in connection with an armed carjacking. According to the sheriff’s office, the chase was briefly terminated after Milwaukee deputies lost radio communication with dispatchers. Washington County deputies then re-engaged the pursuit when the suspect vehicle continued at dangerous speeds.

Authorities said multiple agencies coordinated to end the chase, deploying tire deflation devices near Highway 33. A Washington County deputy successfully disabled the vehicle, which came to a stop on I-41 northbound near County Trunk DW in Addison. A high-risk traffic stop followed, and deputies arrested the driver, a 30-year-old Milwaukee man, and a 21-year-old passenger without further incident. Both suspects allegedly have lengthy criminal records.

The vehicle and both men were turned over to the Milwaukee Police Department, which is leading the armed carjacking investigation. However, Washington County prosecutors are pursuing additional charges against the driver, including felony fleeing, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, misdemeanor bail jumping, and operating without a valid license.

Sheriff Martin R. Schulteis commended the cooperation between agencies, stating that the case demonstrates the importance of teamwork in safely ending dangerous pursuits.

The Milwaukee Police Department continues to investigate the armed carjacking.
