Frankfort, IL – A 3-month-old kitten stolen from a local animal rescue has been safely returned, according to the Frankfort Police Department.

According to a police statement released Monday, the incident occurred Friday, June 13, at approximately 3:20 p.m. A female suspect allegedly entered Alsip Nursery on La Grange Road and took the kitten from a section operated by Cache Creek Animal Rescue. Authorities say the suspect left in a light-colored sedan and concealed the kitten inside her hoodie.

Police confirmed the kitten has since been located and is in good health. The case remains under investigation.

“This remains an active investigation,” said Chief Chelepis in a public update. “We will share further updates when the case concludes.”

The department credited both its investigative team and local residents for their assistance, saying public support and vigilance contributed to the positive outcome.

“We’re relieved to see this little one back where they belong,” Chelepis added.

No arrests or charges had been announced as of Monday afternoon.
