Indianapolis, IN – A man prohibited from carrying firearms in both Indiana and Illinois was arrested Wednesday after police reportedly found him with a stolen gun. Detectives with the Indiana Crime Guns Task Force (ICGTF) arrested 33-year-old Branden Swan in the 1700 block of E 34th Street around 11:40 a.m.
Swan, who is barred from possessing firearms due to felony cases in both states, was allegedly found carrying a stolen handgun traced to Indianapolis. He also had an active felony warrant in Indiana for dealing marijuana and additional warrants in Illinois for obstruction of justice and resisting law enforcement.
According to ICGTF, Swan faces charges for unlawfully carrying the handgun and for his outstanding felony warrants. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and determine final charges.
