Charleston, WV – A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect through 7 a.m. Tuesday for portions of eastern West Virginia, where heavy snow and strong winds are expected to create hazardous conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, the warning includes Southeast Webster, Northwest Pocahontas, and Southeast Randolph Counties, impacting communities such as Harman and Snowshoe. Forecasters predict 4 to 7 inches of snow, with localized higher amounts possible. Wind gusts could reach 45 mph, leading to low visibility and downed tree branches.
The most significant impacts are expected Monday morning through Monday evening, when travel may become very difficult due to slick and snow-covered roads. The NWS advises motorists to avoid unnecessary travel, and if travel is essential, to carry emergency supplies such as flashlights, food, and water.
Officials urge residents to monitor local forecasts and road condition updates by calling 511 or visiting their state’s online roadway portal. Additional updates will be shared via the National Weather Service’s X (Twitter) and Facebook pages.
