Plumas County, CA Pedestrian Killed in Highway 70 Collision Wednesday Night

Plumas County, CA – A pedestrian was struck and killed Wednesday night, October 8, after being hit by a vehicle on State Route 70 west of “C” Road in Plumas County, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Quincy office.

CHP reported the crash occurred around 7:15 p.m. when the pedestrian, wearing a black sweatshirt and jeans, was walking eastbound in the center of the #1 passing lane in an unlit area. The driver of an oncoming Subaru reportedly did not see the individual in the darkness and was unable to avoid the collision.

According to investigators, the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as a resident of Reno, Nevada. Next of kin will be notified by authorities.

The Subaru’s driver and passenger were treated at the scene for complaints of pain but refused transport to a hospital, CHP said.

The crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
