Plumas County, CA — Seven people were arrested in separate drug investigations across Plumas County, triggering seizures of methamphetamine, cocaine and firearms.

According to a statement posted by the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted multiple enforcement actions between Tuesday, Feb. 25, and Friday, March 13, resulting in the seizure of approximately 288 grams of controlled substances, or just over half a pound.

The first case occurred the evening of Feb. 25 in Beckwourth, where a deputy conducted a traffic stop that allegedly led to the arrest of Wade Deberg of Chilcoot. Authorities said a search of Deberg’s person and vehicle allegedly revealed methamphetamine and evidence of additional criminal activity. After serving a search warrant, deputies reportedly seized additional methamphetamine and several firearms, including an AK-47–style rifle. Investigators said about 30 grams of methamphetamine were recovered.

On March 5 around 6:30 p.m., deputies stopped a vehicle in Portola for a traffic violation. According to the sheriff’s office, the occupants — identified as Jonathon Pope and Eric Holmes of Portola — allegedly showed signs of drug impairment. Deputies reported discovering a container allegedly holding nearly 200 grams of methamphetamine, along with evidence of additional criminal activity.

A third incident occurred March 7 around 10 p.m. on Highway 70 outside Portola, where deputies contacted occupants of a parked vehicle in what authorities described as a suspicious location. Investigators said about 43 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found. Monica Baca, Benjamin Hillcroft and Jeffery Burkhart were arrested.

On March 13 around 9 p.m., deputies assisting probation officers in Quincy reportedly located a container allegedly holding 15 grams of cocaine during a probation search at the home of Angelique DeCrona. Authorities said the investigation also led to allegations of child endangerment.

The cases have been forwarded to the Plumas County District Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution.

Because several of the incidents occurred along major routes such as Highway 70, the investigations may be particularly relevant for regional commuters and students traveling through eastern Plumas County.

All suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
