Plainfield, IL – A Plainfield man was arrested Friday after a two-year-old child was found unconscious with severe injuries in an unincorporated area of Will County.

According to the Will County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 6:50 p.m. to a residence on W. Franklin Circle, where emergency medical personnel were already treating the child. The toddler was transported to a local hospital and later transferred to a Chicago hospital in critical condition.

Authorities said the child had a fractured skull, brain bleed, and bruising consistent with abuse. Investigators allege that 21-year-old Jordan Padilla struck the child in the face with his elbow. He was charged with multiple counts of battery and domestic battery and remains in custody at the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
