Plainfield, Ill. — The Village of Plainfield will be conducting a Special Census in late July or early August.

The survey will count the population and housing units in the Village. Though similar to the decennial census, the special census has been requested due to the growth in the community. Plainfield has seen an estimated 10% increase since 2020. The census will help the Village be better represented to receive a fair share of federal funding to use for public safety, street repairs and other services.

To fill out a survey, residents will receive a letter from the U.S. Census Bureau inviting them to complete the census online. The letter will also include a Census ID that residents use to log in to the census portal. By August 22, the Census Bureau will send a Field Representative to the homes of residents who have not filled out the questionnaire online. All responses are confidential, secure and protected.

The Census Bureau will hire over 60 positions to help with the Plainfield Special Census. Part-time and full-time positions include a Special Census Supervisor, Clerks, Field Supervisors and Field Representatives.
