Plainfield, IL – A fireworks show and food truck festival are set to light up the night in Plainfield on Thursday, July 3, drawing large crowds and temporary traffic changes.

The Plainfield Park District, in partnership with the Village of Plainfield, will host the Annual Fireworks Show beginning at approximately 9 p.m. at Plainfield Central High School, 24120 W. Fort Beggs Drive. Prior to the display, the Third Annual Plainfield Food Truck Festival will run from 4 to 9 p.m. in the parking lot of the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center at 24550 W. Renwick Road.

According to the Plainfield Park District, recommended fireworks viewing and parking areas include Plainfield Central High School, Gregory B. Bott Community Park, and St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Parish Church.

Visitors should prepare for road restrictions beginning Thursday. No parking will be permitted on Renwick Road between Hometown Drive and Spangler’s Farm Drive, as well as on River Road. Parking will be limited to one side only on Hometown Drive. The baseball fields and bike path at Bott Park will close at 10 a.m., and the park’s playground will shut down at 8:30 p.m.

A designated accessible parking area will be available near the Plainfield Central tennis courts. Officials recommend early arrival for those needing accommodations. Due to increased foot traffic, drivers are urged to use caution in the area throughout the evening, especially around Plainfield Central High School.

Attendees are reminded that no alcohol is allowed at viewing sites. For event or traffic inquiries, contact Commander Anthony Novak at (815) 267-7234 or the Plainfield Park District at 815-436-8812.
