Plainfield, IL – A 17-year-old was allegedly targeted and shot multiple times Saturday night at Settler’s Park, according to police in the southwest Chicago suburb of Plainfield.

According to the Plainfield Police Department, the shooting occurred around 10:44 p.m. near 24401 West Lockport Street. Officers and Plainfield Fire Protection District personnel responded to reports of a person shot and located the teen with several gunshot wounds.

The teen was conscious and breathing at the scene. An officer applied a tourniquet before paramedics transported the victim to Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora for further care. His current condition has not been disclosed.

Police said preliminary information suggests the shooting was not random but a targeted incident. There is no active threat to the public, according to law enforcement.
