Plainfield, IL – A Plainfield market manager has been indicted after allegedly stealing more than $92,000 through voided cash transactions dating back to early 2025, according to the Plainfield Police Department.

Police said the investigation began on October 15, 2025, after the owner of Tischler’s Market, located on South Route 59, reported suspicious activity involving one of the store’s managers, Robert S. Emanuelson, 57. The owner alleged that Emanuelson had voided cash transactions and kept the money for personal use.

According to police, Emanuelson was arrested the same day on a misdemeanor theft charge. But about two weeks later, additional documentation reportedly showed the theft was “substantially larger than originally believed.” A full audit revealed 847 voided cash transactions totaling $92,709.04, extending back to January 1, 2025.

Detectives reopened the case, and after a three-month investigation, a grand jury indicted Emanuelson on two felony theft charges — one Class 2 and one Class 3.

Authorities said Emanuelson, of Patriot Square Drive South in Plainfield, remains charged in connection with the case. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Ron Mikos at (815) 267-7237.
