PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Vegan Expo will host the Black Cat Jam: Vegan Halloween Party & Show Saturday, Oct. 4th, from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Helltown Taproom in the Strip District. Admission is free and the event includes a fundraiser for rescue cats in partnership with The Black Cat Market.

Raffle tickets can be bought at the organization’s booth for a chance to win a $25 gift card from City Grows, a $30 gift certificate from Pittsburgh Bellydance, and other prizes. Attendees can also enter a costume contest with awards.

Witch vendors sell Halloween-themed treats and Samhain products for cultural rituals and seasonal decor. Guests can enjoy live music from Grateful Dead cover band FlowerChild, caricatures by Let’s Fact It Arts and Entertainment, and vegan-friendly prepared food items. Helltown Brewing is responsible for providing themed draft beers and drinks.

The Black Cat Market is part cat cafe and part adoption center where customers can enjoy coffee and play with adoptable cats. The shop works with Frankie’s Friends, a non-profit veterinary clinic, to find fitting homes.

“Our main mission with The Black Cat Market is to act as a community gathering place,” the business said in a statement. “Book clubs, poetry readings, art shows, yoga classes with cats, pet therapy sessions and more will all be on our schedule.”

Pittsburgh Vegan Expo will also host the third annual Halloween Festival Saturday, Nov. 1st, from 1 to 9 p.m. at the South Park Fairgrounds and a Vegan Halloween Shop & Party Sunday, Oct. 26th, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Two Frays Brewery.
