PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A sharp cool down is setting in across western Pennsylvania and the Ohio Valley this week, with temperatures running up to 10 degrees below late-August averages. Afternoon highs will struggle to reach the low 70s in Pittsburgh through Friday, while some towns may not climb out of the 60s.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a fall-like air mass has moved in, dropping overnight lows into the upper 40s to low 50s across Butler, Coshocton, Morgantown, and surrounding areas. Scattered lake-enhanced showers are possible today, though most of the region will stay dry under crisp, breezy conditions.
The cool pattern will be felt across much of the Ohio Valley, including Carrollton, Zanesville, and Wheeling, where Wednesday and Thursday highs are forecast to hover in the mid-60s. Residents are urged to prepare for cooler mornings, particularly commuters and early risers. Light jackets and layered clothing are recommended, and those heading out for evening events should expect a chill once the sun sets.
Temperatures are expected to moderate by the weekend, but the National Weather Service says below-normal readings could persist into early next week.
