Pittsburgh, Pa. – Humid conditions across western Pennsylvania will give way to crisp, fall-like air early next week as a strong cold front pushes through. Residents can expect a dramatic drop in humidity with dew points falling into the 40s by Tuesday, making for a much more comfortable stretch after weeks of muggy afternoons.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, the shift comes as a large upper-level trough settles over the Great Lakes, funneling in cooler and drier air. By Monday, dew points in Pittsburgh will dip into the lower 50s before dropping further into the 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday, marking one of the driest periods of the summer.

Communities including Washington, Uniontown, and New Castle will also see the sharp change, with morning lows feeling more like late September than August. The front will also reduce storm chances, leading to clear skies and cooler nights across the region.

Travelers and outdoor workers should prepare for cooler mornings, especially in higher elevations where the air may feel even more brisk. The shift will offer relief for those sensitive to heat and humidity, but it may also prompt earlier-than-usual use of jackets in the mornings.

This stretch of refreshing weather is expected to last through midweek, with conditions gradually warming again by late next week.
