Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Hot, humid air is returning to western Pennsylvania this week, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s Tuesday and Wednesday—just ahead of a possible round of afternoon thunderstorms midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, Tuesday will bring mostly sunny skies and highs between 85 and 90 degrees. The risk of showers and isolated thunderstorms develops Wednesday afternoon as a weak disturbance moves through the region. Temperatures will again hover near 90 before cooling slightly by Thursday.
Localized downpours and brief gusty winds could accompany Wednesday’s storms, especially north of I-70 and near the Laurel Highlands. While severe weather isn’t expected, residents should monitor alerts if outdoor plans are in place.
Conditions are forecast to dry out by Thursday, when temperatures return to a more seasonal range in the low to mid-80s under mostly sunny skies. No additional rain is expected through the end of the workweek, offering a more comfortable close to August’s third week.
Humidity will drop by Thursday night, but updates may be issued if storm timing shifts or rainfall amounts increase.
