Pittsburgh, Pa. – A quiet Saturday in western Pennsylvania will give way to a stormier stretch as showers and thunderstorms move in on Sunday. Drivers and outdoor plans across Pittsburgh and surrounding communities could be disrupted, with storm chances staying high into the middle of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, rain probabilities climb to 45–55% across much of western Pennsylvania and northern West Virginia by Sunday afternoon. Cities including Pittsburgh, Morgantown, and Butler are all expected to see storms develop, bringing periods of heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds.

The unsettled weather pattern lingers into early next week, with scattered showers possible Monday and more widespread activity Tuesday into Wednesday. Pittsburgh carries a 50% rain chance Tuesday afternoon, while Morgantown and Dubois could see storms as high as 60%. Localized flooding may become a concern if storms repeat over the same areas.

Travelers should allow extra time Sunday and early next week, especially along I-79, I-376, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items and keep phones charged in case of power outages.
