Pittsburgh, Pa. – Western Pennsylvania will enjoy a dry and slightly warmer Friday with highs in the mid-80s, but rain and thunderstorms are expected to return late in the weekend. The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh reports that skies will clear some Friday, allowing for more sunshine and temperatures several degrees higher than Thursday.
According to forecasters, a cold front arriving late Saturday will bring scattered showers, with storm chances peaking Sunday at 50 to 60 percent. While widespread rain is not expected, some thunderstorms could produce localized downpours and brief travel delays.
Communities stretching from Washington to Butler counties could see slick roads and slower commutes by Sunday afternoon. Outdoor events, including late-summer festivals in Allegheny County, may face interruptions from passing storms. Officials advise monitoring weather alerts, securing outdoor items, and having indoor backup plans for gatherings.
The unsettled conditions will fade by Monday, leading to drier, seasonable weather to start the workweek. Additional advisories may be issued if storm activity strengthens on Sunday.
