PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Drivers across western Pennsylvania are navigating dense morning fog Friday, with visibility reduced to less than a quarter mile in some areas. The low clouds are expected to linger until late morning, slowing commutes on major routes including I-79, I-376, and the Parkway East.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, dense fog will gradually clear after 11 a.m., giving way to mostly sunny skies with highs near 77 degrees. Patchy fog is likely to redevelop overnight and continue through the weekend, especially in low-lying valleys and near rivers.

Saturday brings a slight chance of light showers, mainly after 2 p.m., though most areas will stay dry. Temperatures are forecast to climb into the upper 70s to low 80s through Monday, offering a stretch of unseasonably warm and calm weather once the fog lifts. Drivers are urged to use low beams, slow down, and allow extra space on the roads during early morning hours.

The pattern of foggy mornings followed by sunny afternoons will continue through at least Tuesday, with no significant rain expected until midweek.
