PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Thick morning fog will slow drivers across southwestern Pennsylvania through Monday, especially along I-376 and I-79. Reduced visibility could make early commutes dangerous, with fog expected before 9 a.m. Sunday and again before 7 a.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, patchy fog will linger both mornings before sunshine breaks through. Highs will reach the low to mid-80s Sunday and Monday, well above normal for late September. Calm winds will limit ventilation, adding to the hazy starts.

Commuters are urged to use headlights, slow speeds, and allow extra travel time. Fog has already cut visibility below half a mile near Allegheny County Airport this morning. Conditions are expected to improve by late morning each day.

By Tuesday, skies turn partly sunny with highs around 80. Another round of patchy clouds may appear Tuesday night, but no widespread rain is expected. Wednesday brings a noticeable shift as highs fall to the mid-70s, signaling the arrival of October’s cooler trend.

Long-range models hint at even cooler weather beyond midweek, with highs closer to 70 by Thursday and overnight lows dipping into the 40s. The shift marks a clear transition from a summer-like end to September toward more seasonable fall weather.

The National Weather Service advises monitoring updates for any changes, especially with reduced visibility risks persisting into early Monday.
