Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Snow will continue coating roads across western and northwestern Pennsylvania overnight, setting up slick conditions before sunrise and slowing the Wednesday morning commute through early afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Wednesday for Venango, Forest, Clarion and Jefferson counties, along with the higher elevations of Westmoreland, Fayette and Indiana counties in Pennsylvania, and eastern Preston and eastern Tucker counties in West Virginia. Snow totals between 2 and 4 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts across the Laurel Highlands and the higher terrain near Canaan Valley and Davis.

Wind gusts could reach 30 mph in most areas, while exposed ridge tops may see gusts up to 40 mph. Blowing snow may briefly reduce visibility along I-80 near Clarion and Brookville, US-322 near Punxsutawney and Route 219 through Ligonier and Somerset County highlands.

Road crews will treat primary highways, but untreated secondary roads and bridges may remain snow-covered into late morning. Drivers should reduce speed, allow extra stopping distance and monitor local conditions before heading out.

Snow tapers from west to east by early afternoon Wednesday, though slick spots could linger in shaded and higher elevation areas. Additional updates will follow if bands intensify overnight.
