Pittsburgh, PA – A tractor-trailer partially overturned at Stanwix Street and Fort Pitt Boulevard earlier this morning, causing significant traffic disruption near the business district.
According to the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, the commercial vehicle tipped onto its side while navigating a tight turn, blocking multiple lanes, and forcing emergency crews to close the immediate area. The accident occurred at 6:30 a.m. Police and fire personnel are working to stabilize the truck and reopen the intersection.
No injuries have been reported, but the accident has led to heavy congestion on surrounding streets, with delays spilling onto nearby Liberty Avenue, the 10th Street Bypass, and access ramps to Interstate 279.
City officials have advised drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes, including Boulevard of the Allies and the Fort Pitt Bridge. Motorists heading toward the North Shore or crossing the Fort Duquesne Bridge should plan for extended travel times until the roadway is fully cleared.
Crews are assisting in the recovery process, which may take several hours. Authorities have not yet released details about the truck’s cargo or the circumstances that led to the accident.
