Pittsburgh, PA – A brief midweek warm-up will bring rising temperatures and generally dry conditions across western Pennsylvania before a late-week system ushers in rain, cooler air, and the potential for snow.

According to the National Weather Service office in Pittsburgh, temperatures will continue to climb through Thursday morning, with daytime highs reaching the 40s and low 50s. Tuesday’s highs are expected to range from the upper 30s to mid-40s, marking a noticeable improvement from recent colder conditions.

Forecasters say dry weather will dominate much of the week, though there is a non-zero chance of light sprinkles Wednesday morning. Any precipitation during this period is expected to be minimal, with little to no impact on travel.

Conditions begin to change Thursday afternoon, as a low-pressure system approaches the region. Rain is expected to develop later Thursday, with temperatures remaining mild enough for liquid precipitation through much of the day.

As a cold front moves through Thursday night into Friday, colder air will return to the region. Highs on Friday are expected to fall back toward around 30 degrees, with rain potentially changing over to snow. At this time, no significant snow accumulation is forecast, but brief slick spots could develop, especially during the morning hours.

Looking ahead to the weekend, forecasters expect seasonable conditions to return, with highs ranging from the upper 30s to low 40s and mostly dry weather across western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia.

The National Weather Service advises residents to stay informed as precipitation timing and temperatures become clearer later in the week.
