Pittsburgh, PA – Residents across western Pennsylvania should brace for gusty winds and steady rain Sunday afternoon as a cold front moves through the region, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh.

Forecasters say maximum wind gusts will range between 30 and 45 mph, with a narrow line of stronger showers and storms possible between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. The weather service warns that these brief but intense gusts may cause difficulty driving and could knock down small branches or unsecured outdoor items.

According to NWS data, gusts are expected to peak in areas including Pittsburgh, Butler, Beaver, and Morgantown, West Virginia, before gradually tapering off overnight. Rain chances remain high into Sunday evening, with showers likely to linger into early Monday morning.

“Winds will subside some but still remain elevated overnight,” the NWS noted, advising residents to secure outdoor furniture and use caution during afternoon travel hours.

Monday morning will bring cooler, calmer conditions as the front moves east.
