Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette will close its facility at 300 Corliss Street, resulting in 171 layoffs effective Monday, May 4, 2026.

A WARN notice filed in Pennsylvania confirms the workforce reduction tied to the site’s closure. The federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act requires employers to provide advance notice of significant layoffs or plant closures.

The Post-Gazette has operated in Pittsburgh for more than two centuries and is one of the region’s primary daily newspapers. The Corliss Street facility has served as a central operations site.

Details regarding severance, reassignment opportunities or potential impacts to print or digital publication operations were not immediately outlined in the notice.

The layoffs represent a significant workforce reduction within Allegheny County’s media sector. Affected employees are expected to transition out of their roles by early May.

For workers and families impacted, the closure may prompt eligibility for state workforce assistance programs and unemployment benefits.

Additional information may be released as the effective date approaches.
