Pittsburgh, PA – The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a Freeze Watch for Thursday night into Friday morning, as near- to sub-freezing temperatures are expected across parts of western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia.

Lows are forecast to fall into the upper 20s and low 30s across much of the region, with coldest temperatures likely in rural valleys and sheltered areas. According to the National Weather Service, these temperatures may damage sensitive vegetation and pose a risk to uncovered outdoor plumbing.

If conditions remain favorable, the Freeze Watch could be upgraded to a Freeze Warning before Thursday evening. Temperatures will gradually moderate Friday afternoon, but another cold night is possible heading into the weekend.

Residents are advised to cover plants, disconnect outdoor hoses, and protect pets and livestock from the cold overnight air.
