PITTSBURGH – Chatham Baroque, a Pittsburgh-based classical ensemble, presents Music for the Neighborhood Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Carnegie Library in Lawrenceville.
Families can enjoy the performance as the ensemble shares knowledge of their instruments, music, and culture. Attendees of all ages are encouraged to be active and enthusiastic listeners.
The group connects communities through educational musical programs and classical music performances.
Chatham Baroque has toured the globe from South America to the Virgin Islands to Canada and are internationally renowned for their skill.
Peanut Butter & Jam Sessions, the ensemble’s 45-minute program centered on teaching younger children basic music concepts, serves Pittsburgh first. Local music instructors and professional musicians work together during these sessions to tell stories, dance in community, and lead educational activities.
Supporters can hear the ensemble perform during the concert series throughout the year. Venues include but are not limited to Shadyside Presbyterian Church, Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland, and Teutonia Männerchor in Deutschtown. All venues are accessible with the exception of Teutonia Männerchor which requires maneuvering stairs.
The Lisette Project: Haitian Creole Music, a performance that will premiere Sunday, Feb 22, 2026, highlights a wider context of classical music history. Chatham Baroque will perform the oldest surviving Haitian Creole song text “Lisette quitté la plaine”.
