Pittsburgh, PA – A man previously convicted of multiple counts of animal cruelty is back in custody after authorities say he was found hiding inside an attic crawlspace during an arrest operation in East Pittsburgh.
According to the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Kevin M. Kraus announced Wednesday that 25-year-old Kachyphe McCullough-Williams was arrested after detectives located him inside a residence along Franklin Street in East Pittsburgh.
Officials said McCullough-Williams pleaded guilty in 2022 to 11 counts of animal cruelty, including one count of aggravated animal cruelty, and was sentenced to more than 20 years of probation. Authorities said a bench warrant was issued approximately six weeks ago after alleged violations of that probation.
In addition, the sheriff’s office said McCullough-Williams also had separate probation violation warrants related to other cases involving guilty pleas to several charges, including strangulation and aggravated assault.
Detectives developed information earlier this week indicating McCullough-Williams was inside the Franklin Street residence. According to officials, detectives arrived at the home Wednesday morning and were permitted entry by a woman who answered the door.
Once inside, deputies conducted a sweep of the residence and eventually located McCullough-Williams hiding in an attic crawlspace, authorities said.
The sheriff’s office reported that McCullough-Williams was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Allegheny County Jail, where he is being held pending further court proceedings.
Residents in East Pittsburgh and surrounding communities are reminded that anyone with information regarding wanted individuals can contact local law enforcement.
