PITTSBURGH — Heather Kalinski, a crafter with Wicked Decor, will host a workshop in collaboration with artisan Apryle Flinko Sunday, Oct. 12, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Hotel Indigo Pittsburgh University-Oakland. The event will teach participants how to build selenite stick bundles and witch brooms with natural materials.
Provided materials include cinnamon scented brooms, dried flowers, herbs, fruits, paleo santos, witchy charms, trinkets, and selenite wands. Selenite is a soft mineral often used in rituals and spiritual practices.
Participants will learn more about the background and history of selenite sticks and how to use bundles in cleansing rituals. Bundles are traditionally used in energy work. Selenite is believed to promote mental clarity and cleanse negative energies, especially during meditation and rest.
Whether residents are newcomers or experienced practitioners, instructors aim to create a supportive environment ripe for exploration, questioning, and fun. Those curious about mystical arts or eager to get their hands dirty with DIY projects are both encouraged to join.
Event organizers stress that the witch brooms and selenite stick bundles built during the workshop are perfect for practice or display especially during the Halloween season.
Other fall and Halloween-themed events continuing across Pittsburgh include the Carnegie Library’s Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 25, the Pittsburgh Vegan Expo’s Potions & Pancakes on Saturday, Oct. 18, and the final Steel City Spooky Market of the season, also on Oct. 18.
