Pittsburgh, PA – A winter storm will bring strong winds and snowfall to the Pittsburgh area starting early Wednesday. The system will create hazardous travel conditions, with the heaviest snowfall expected north of the city.
According to the National Weather Service, snow will begin between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Wednesday. The most intense snowfall is expected between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. before tapering off overnight into Thursday. Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are likely along the I-80 corridor, with lesser amounts farther south and west.
Gusty winds will also be a concern, particularly in the Laurel Highlands and Allegheny Mountains. The combination of snow and wind could create low visibility and slick roads. Snow squalls may develop during peak travel hours, increasing the risk of accidents.
Drivers should use caution and allow extra time for commutes. Wind chills could make conditions feel even colder, so dress appropriately when heading outside.
