Pittsburgh, PA – The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning residents across western Pennsylvania to prepare for periods of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms through early Wednesday morning as a cold front moves through the area.
According to the US National Weather Service Pittsburgh, showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue through tonight, with rainfall chances between 80% and 95% across most cities including Pittsburgh, Morgantown, Wheeling, and Clarion. Forecasters say poor drainage areas could experience localized flooding, particularly during the evening commute.
The system will push east overnight, with rain tapering off early Wednesday morning. Conditions are expected to turn much cooler and drier midweek, with highs in the low 60s Wednesday before dropping into the 40s overnight. By Thursday and Friday, sunny skies and crisp fall weather will dominate, with morning lows near 40°F and daytime highs returning to the mid-60s.
Travelers are urged to use caution on wet roads today and to monitor for any flood advisories or thunderstorm warnings issued by local emergency management.
