Pittsburgh, PA – A widespread Freeze Warning has been issued for much of western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia as temperatures are expected to dip well below freezing overnight.

According to the National Weather Service Pittsburgh, the warning is in effect from midnight through 9 AM Sunday, with overnight lows near 29°F across the region.

The advisory covers a broad area including Pittsburgh’s suburbs, as well as New Castle, Butler, Washington, Morgantown, Uniontown, Zanesville, and Coshocton. Forecasters say the coldest temperatures will occur in valleys and sheltered rural areas, where frost and ice formation are likely.

The NWS warns that frost and freeze conditions could kill sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents should cover or bring in plants and insulate exterior pipes to prevent damage.

Conditions will begin to improve after sunrise Sunday, with sunny skies and highs in the 50s expected by afternoon. Another chilly morning is possible early next week before temperatures moderate.
